First Mother's Day!

Oh I can't believe my baby is 2 weeks old already! Where has the time gone?? Mackenzie is doing amazing. Holding her head up and getting very strong. She sure does love her daddy too. We had her 14day check up today and she is now 7lbs 8oz and get this... 21 inches! What a growing girl we have. She is eating well and has even started bottle feeding so grandma and grandpa can watch her every now and then. Or if daddy needs to get up with her at night. But, she is still latching on to me too which is fantastic. She sucks down those bottles though!

Mother's Day was so nice. Matt got up and took over holding her so I could sleep a couple more hours. He then made fabulous pancakes for us and even some espresso. It was a great day. We also had dinner with his parents and some of their friends. The best part was we got our first family photo taken of the 3 of us. She's 2 weeks and we hadn't taken one! Motherhood is the greatest gift of all and for me to be able to experience it is such a blessing. I just love Mackenzie so much.

Week 1 down

I can't believe Mackenzie is a week old already! She amazes us every single day. We love just to sit and stare at her and if we call her beautiful one more time I know that will be her first word! She is sleeping very well and eating very well also. She only fusses when she is either hungry, wet, or gasy. We love her to pieces and are so happy to have her. We are all adjusting rather well.

Yes she is finally here!

On April 30th, 2007 at 2 in the morning I started having some really good contractions that woke me up. I was supposed to have a doctors appointment at 7:50 that morning and was holding off on going to the hospital as I was sure we'd be sent there any way. By 7am Matt convinced me to go to the hospital. I knew something was up as I really wanted to do my hair but just couldn't. We checked in at 7:30am and were admitted by 8 or so after finding out I was 4cm. The contractions were about 4 min apart and weren't too painful. I was more tired than anything after only having slept for 2 hours. The doctor came over around 10am and found I was 6cm by that time. At about 12:30 I decided to get an epidural so I could sleep. The contractions were still manageable but I needed some rest before pushing. By about 4pm I was 8cm but things stalled. The baby wouldn't drop into the birth canal. I was put on some pitocin to see if that would make her drop. Unfortunately by 7:30, there had been no change and the contractions were getting smaller and less intense. So after an 18 hour labor I underwent a C-section. Matt was amazing the whole time, such an encourager to me. We were both scared to have this major surgery done but I knew from the moment I found out I was pregnant that a C-secion would be possible. The doc found that she tried to come out lop sided! She is the most beautiful baby we have ever seen. Matt is absolutely smitten with her, as any dad should be but it is so sweet to watch them together. As soon as I was out of recovery I held her for the first time and she latched on right then and is eating really well. I had to stay in bed a whole extra day as the epidural didn't want to leave my right leg and I was still numb. Matt was awesome though, always getting up to change her and help me nurse her. We are all still adjusting but are doing fantastic. C-section recovery is going really well too. My staples were removed (19 of them!) before being discharged from the hospital and I'm up and about, have been since we got home. It feels better to be up walking around and doing things. Here are her stats and some pictures.
